Fashion on the Festival Field

Fashion on the Festival Field

Summer is all about festivals.  I remember the days when getting ready for a festival meant putting on some cargo pants and chucking on a singlet and you were ready to go. These days however, the fashion seems almost more important than the music. Getting the perfect festival outfit can be a tricky feat. It needs to be comfortable, look good but not cost your entire week’s pay because at the end of the day your outfit is prone to get a little trashed and any accessory you’re wearing is likely to go MIA.

With festivals like Good Vibes, V Festival, Playground Weekender, Future Music Festival coming up below are some fashion tips to get you through them with style:

  • Hats are in. Particularly, tailored hats like the Bowler, the Fedora and the Trilby are making a huge comeback. Make a bold statement while shading your skin from the sun. Hat World has a great range online or you can pick one up from General Pants, any surf shop or your local weekend markets.
  • The Summer Dress.  The weather is hot and the crowds make it even hotter. The last thing you want is to be wearing tight, clinging clothing. Get a light-weight cotton summer dress to keep cool. I’ve found some pretty good finds from Target’s Free Fusion range, Myer’s Miss Shop or my favourite Blue Juice. Frock You has a great range online and good sales from time to time.
  • Ditch the heels for some sandals. Rubi Shoes is really good value and while they probably won’t last you beyond the season, their sandals will do the job and they’re actually pretty comfy!
  • Sunnies – the bigger the better. While you can go for Dolce & Gabana or Prada sunnies, the probability of you losing them is pretty high! Pick some cheapies up from Sportsgirl or your local weekend markets instead, they’re only around $30 and if you lose them it’s no big loss.
